It is the time of the month again when lots of demonstrators from around the world are getting together in this International Blog Hop. The theme for this hop is always encouragement and I am sending all my positive vibes and love in the direction of a very faithful old friend this month.
It has been nearly 12 years since my husband and I, accompanied by our three, then teenage, children went along to a nearby animal shelter to explore the possibility of rehoming a rescue dog. My Mum had died a few months before and we needed to bring some extra love and smiles into our household.
And so Taz entered our lives. We knew little of his background, except he came from Ireland. His age was estimated to be between 18 months and 2 years old. He has seen the family grow – the children’s partners and 2 Grandchildren and he has bestowed his love on us all.
3 weeks ago or so, we felt he wasn’t right, so a series of tests have followed, culminating in an ultrasound scan. This showed a worrying mass and so, despite his age, he was booked in for an operation to investigate.
We still await the results of tests, but it seems likely the lump was malignant. We don’t know if they have been able to remove it all, but he is recovering well from his operation and seems brighter each day.
So my card of encouragement is for Taz.
The “Happy Tails” stamp set and coordinating punch was perfect for this job. The white embossing on black card gives the perfect representation of Taz’s white distinguished patches. A thin strip of black card creates the lead. Our new trimmer cuts these thin slithers so well. I added some brown shading to the white bone with watercolour pencil before fussy cutting it. And of course we needed some love, which was provided with red glimmer hearts punched out with the small heart that is also on the dog punch.
The sentiment expressed perfectly how we feel as a family about our fur baby. I loved the combination of Real Red and Coastal Cabana that was provided by the Let it Snow speciality papers. I finished the card with some faux stitching added with a journaling pen
As much as I am sure Taz will appreciate this card, I may actually send it along to everyone at the Vets. They have all been so kind and have really taken our Old Boy into their hearts.
I hope you like this card and that you will take the time to check out all the other cards on this Blog Highlight. Don’t forget to place your votes for your favourite 5. You can do that here
