Today I have two slimline thistle cards to share with you

They have both been created for this months Crafty Challenge Blog Hop brought to you be the Craft Collaborations Community. The members are Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world, who will all bring different styles, but for this blog hop we have all been inspired by the same challenge.

This sketch challenge was the starting point for my projects. As always with sketch challenges, you can change orientation and the shapes of the different design elements. They are intended to be used as a springboard.

Slimline Thistle Cards

The two cards used different stamp and die pieces from this beautiful Cling Mount Rubber stamp set and matching dies. The card bases are sized to fit DL envelopes that are readily available here in the UK. There are other sizes of slimline cards that can be created.

Die Cut Thistle

For this card a 212cm x 19.9cm piece of Soft Sea Foam is scored and folded at 9.9cm on the shorter size to create the card base.

The Designer Series Paper comes from the Pretty prints pack. These papers feature the same patterns as the papers in the Sun Prints pack, but in different colours. This design is predominantly Evening Evergreen.

The mat in the centre features a piece of Soft Sea Foam measuring 14cm x 6.9cm and a piece of Basic White, 13.7cm x 6.6cm. Some Soft Sea Foam ink has been blended in the centre of the Basic White mat, before the sentiment has been stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink.

A length of Evening Evergreen Open weave ribbon has been wrapped around it and then a thistle which has been cut in Evening Evergreen and Gorgeous Grape cardstock is stuck over the centre.

The front has been finished with the addition of some Glossy Dots.

Stamped Thistle.

This second card changes the orientation of the sketch. Both the card base and the mat on the card are Orchid Oasis. A row of tone on tone thistles were then added to the Orchid Oasis mat of card. After distressing the edges of the mat with the blade of my scissors, I added Orchid Oasis ink with a blending brush.

The 14cm x 6.9cm piece of Basic White also had Orchis Oasis ink blended around the edge. The large thistle was stamped on the right-hand side and then colour added with blending brushes. A length of Evening Evergreen Open Weave ribbon was then added to the left-hand side.

A Orchid Oasis and Basic White oval were punched with the Double Oval punch.The sentiment was masked to remove some of the words, before being stamped on the plain oval. This was then stuck to the scalloped oval before being added to the card front with dimensionals.

The card front was finished with some In Color Decorative Dots and a bow of Evening Evergreen ribbon.
