Check out all the Challenge entries here

Today’s project has taken its inspiration from this weeks Clean and Simple Challenge over at the Paper Players. The theme was Spring Flowers and nothing heralds the arrival of Spring more than the blossom on the trees.

As I sit at my desk crafting, I can see a gorgeous Magnolia tree a couple of doors down – so it would have been tempting to use the Magnolia suite.

My neighbour’s Magnolia coming into bloom.

Instead my thoughts turned to to the Cherry blossom that Mike and I stood under on our Wedding Day, nearly 34 years ago.

Obviously a Child Bride!

My Card

To achieve my Cherry Blossom, I took the spray of blossom from the “Forever Blossoms” stamp set and stamped it twice onto some Shimmery White card using the Saddle Brown Stazon ink.

I water coloured flowers with Rococo Rose ink and the leaves with Old Olive. Painting around the blossom with Balmy Blue to create the sky. I used Old Olive ink to create the splatters on the background and also to stamp the sentiment.

Rococo Rose, Old Olive and Balmy Blue

This painted panel was attached to a Rococo Rose mat, before going onto a Whisper White card base.

To finish off I added some sequins from the Woven Threads assortment.

More Blossom

This card is very reminiscent of one I created recently for my touring class (which has unfortunately been cut short.)

This card was heat embossed in gold and the colour sponged on with daubers. A couple of sneaky bees popped in as well.

I hope you can almost feel the warmth of the Spring Sunshine (even if it is raining outside). For more Spring flowers, do go and check out the challenge here
