Summer Happiness Cherry Thank You Card

For today’s post I have created a Summer Happiness Cherry Thank You Card

This card is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating National Farmers Day.

We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

Summer Happiness Cherry Thank You Card

The fabulous cherries were the starting point for my card. They come from the Summer Happiness Stamp Set, and I stamped them in Peaceful Pine ink and coloured them using Cherry Cobbler and Peaceful Pine Stampin’ Blends. I love the contrast between those rich red cherries and the deeper green leaves.

For the background I used one of the striped designs from the In Color Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper. The stripes give the card plenty of interest without competing with the bold cherry image.

To bring in a slightly more rustic feel, I layered my stamped panel onto Peaceful Pine cardstock and then tore the edges rather than cutting them neatly. It’s such a simple way of adding a distressed look to a project — and very appropriate considering “Distressed Technique” appears on this week’s Inspo List! This was then layered onto a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock.

The Thank You sentiment comes from the Filled With Sweetness Stamp Set. I heat embossed it in white onto the Peaceful Pine cardstock so that it really stands out against the background.

Finally, I added a few of the pretty In Color Butterflies around the card for a little extra detail.

I really enjoyed putting this one together. The combination of cherries, earthy torn edges and the lovely green gives it a fresh summer-meets-country feel.
