Sunflower cards are hugely popular at the moment because of their connection to the people of Ukraine, where it is the national flower. I decided to use the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle to create these cards during a recent Live I did for a UK based Craft Group.
Sunflower Cards
The Celebrate Sunflower bundle is a Cling Mount Rubber stamp set together with coordinating dies. It has only been available in the current Annual Catalogue as individual items, but throughout March, you can get it as a Bundle with 20% off.
Split Card Technique
Using a mask made from a post-it note, large sunflowers and leaves are stamped down the centre of an A5 piece of Shimmery White cardstock in Saddle Brown Stazon ink. These are then painted using Bumblebee, Mossy Meadow and Cinnamon Cider ink and Water Painters. Lastly some splatters of Cinnamon Cider ink were added.
Once the piece is dry, it is cut in half. The two parts are then used to create the cards. The sentiments were stamped in Saddle Brown Stazon ink and then they were embellished with In Color Square Gems
Faux Stepper Card
I created one of these Faux Stepper Cards on a recent blog post and you can see all the instructions for it there.
This card is a Cinnamon Cider base. The Bumblebee panels on the two smaller steppers have been stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink and with the small sunflower stamp. The large sunflowers are then die cut in Bumblebee and Daffodil Delight cardstock with Cinnamon Cider centres. The leaves are in Mossy meadow cardstock, while the ears of wheat are cut in Soft Saffron.
Lastly, a bow of Bumblebee gingham ribbon gives the finishing touch.
Ukraine
I am delighted to be part of a fundraising project with the Creativity Abounds Team. We collaborated to create a Tutorial Bundle. All the proceeds from the sale will go to to International Committee of the Red Cross in order to support their humanitarian work with the Ukranian people.
