I am delighted to be joining in to hop with a new group of people this month and the theme of the Blog is to celebrate Pride, so Rainbows all the way. The Rainbow flag was originally designed by Gilbert Baker, an American Artist and Gay Activist. The colours reflect the diversity of the LGBTQ community, but also as a general symbol of social equality and individuality
I recently saw a link to a new Hymn that had been written by an American hymnwriter and these lyrics really struck me as being a beautiful description of the diversity of our world and how we are all to be cherished.
” No matter your creed or your Country, No matter the hue of your skin. Your age; who you love; or the body your soul was born in.” David LaMotte
My Card
Obviously I was going to use rainbow colours, but I also loved this sentiment from the Strong & Beautiful stamp set and the play on the word “pride”.
I stuck a rainbow of 2cm strips of cardstock onto some double sided adhesive sheet. The colours I used were Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie. Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape. I then cut the background die, the background leaves, the flower centre and 2 pieces of foliage from my rainbow card. The detailed dies in the set were die cut from black to give the strong contrast.
I used stampin’ write markers in the same colours to colour straight to stamp to create the rainbow sentiment, which I punched out with the label me lovely punch. A further 2 pieces were punched from black card to create the background mat.
The flower, leaves and sentiment were all arranged on to a piece of the tile effect Designer Series Paper from the In Good Taste pack, before being mounted onto a black mat and a Poppy Parade card base.
To finish I coloured some rhinestones with Stampin’ Blends for a final touch of bling.
I love the vibrancy of this card.
