For this month’s Casually Crafting Blog hop, I have been Using a Colour Challenge to Create Cards with a Lighthouse theme.

The idea behind this blog hop is to show that you can create beautiful cards even if you don’t have lots of equipment. These beautiful cards are great for crafters who are just starting out, but even avid crafters will love to try these designs.

Using a Colour Challenge to Create Cards

This month’s hop features a colour challenge. I love this colour combination and it immediately inspired me to get creating with the Lighthouse Point Bundle from the Annual Catalogue. This is a stamp and die bundle, so for my Casual card I have just used the stamp set and did some fussy cutting. I have, however including some projects I made on a recent Live with both the stamps and dies to tempt you, if you don’t already have a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.

My Casual Project

A nautical card with the Lighthouse Point Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! using a colour challenge.

Tearing cardstock is a great way of adding texture, landscape ad sea to your projects. For this card I have added Coastal Cabana ways and a Crumb Cake sandy shoreline.. I have stamped on the crumb cake layer with crumb cake ink to add more detail. Using Sweet Sorbet ink, the sentiment was also stamped on this Crumb Cake layer. The white mat these were stuck to was first tinted by adding Coastal Cabana ink with a blending brush to colour the sky. Clouds were stamped with White Craft Ink and the light from the Lighthouse was added in Pale Papaya.

The lighthouse was stamped in Crumb Cake ink and the stripes overlaid in Sweet Sorbet. I then used my paper snips to cut around the lighthouse, leaving a small border. A small piece of Sweet Sorbet Baker’s twine was tied around the lighthouse, before adding it to the card front with dimensionals.

This decorated mat was added to a mat of Sweet Sorbet cardstock, before being stuck to a Crumb Cake card base. In Color Matte dots in Sweet Sorbet gave the finishing touch.

Let’s Step it Up

Two cards using a colour Challenge for inspiration and the Lighthouse {Point Bundle from Stampin' Up!

If you are someone who has die cutting machines and a bit more equipment, you may be interested in these projects, using the same bundle and colours, that I created on a recent Live.

Using the Lighthouse Point bundle from Stampin' Up! to create seaside themed cards

This first card is similar to my blog project, but he lighthouse was die cut . The sentiment has been stamped onto a die cut label from the bundle with the Sweet Sorbet ladder effect detail also die cut. The grasses were cut from the Heron dies.

The clouds in this project were heat embossed in white.

a large die cut Lighthouse built up from dies in the Lighthouse Point bundle from Stampin' Up!

This second card uses the larger detailed dies to buildup a lighthouse. The clouds and rays of lights are also die cut.

Both cards use the same colour palette as the Colour Challenge for today’s Blog Hop.

Let’s Hop

I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects

How Can I Help?

Whether you are just starting out and want ideas just using stamps, ink and paper, or have got all the equipment I hope I have inspired you to have a play with these Lighthouses. They are great for men’s cards and for sending encouraging messages.

If you don’t yet have the Lighthouses, then have a play with this colour combination. I sure the Blog Hop will have given you plenty of ideas.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can help with your purchases, or if you have a crafty question.

Meanwhile stay safe and stay well
