I have been using corner and border stamps in cardmaking for this project to welcome 2023. A new year sees a new Festive Friday Challenge and this is my project for the Design Team contribution.
The theme for this first challenge of the New Year is actually Chinese New Year, which is celebrated on January 22nd and will be bringing in the Year of the Rabbit. With this in mind, the team have collated our Inspo List.
The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!
My project used: red, gold, new year sentiment, slimline card, sequins, heat embossing
Using Corner and Border Stamps In Cardmaking
My project doesn’t just celebrate New Year, but also new products. I have used four products from the new January – April mini catalogue. The Decorative Borders stamp set, the Alphabet A La Mode dies, the Something Fancy Dies and the Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins.
Creating the Card
This DL sized slimline card measures 21cm x 9.9cm. There are a variety of slimline cards that are used around the world, but this size fits our readily available DL envelopes here in the UK.
I used a mat of Gold Foil on my card, but I wasn’t going to let that unseen foil go to waste, so I ensured that I gut it before sticking it in place.
For my heat embossed front panel. I used a floral corner stamp in opposite corners and a straight border stamp on the other two sides. The numbers were die cut in Gold Foil. These slimline dies make building up names and dates across a card so easy.
The Happy New Year sentiment came from the Brightest Glow stamp set, which is carrying over from the last mini catalogue. It was stamped onto a label from the very useful Something Fancy die set. The gold sequins are from the new Pastel Adhesive backed Sequins. It is so easy to add these embellishments, as there is no additional glue required.
A little gold bow was added as a finishing touch.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects
How Can I Help?

Beautiful card Helen
So beautiful, Helen! Now I need to buy the Decorative Borders set too!
Beautiful card! What a fabulous idea to use that stamp set!
Helen, I love the rich red and pops of gold. The subtle embossing adds wonderful detail but doesn’t detract from your focal point. Gorgeous. Happy 2023
