Today’s card features a striped background which illustrates a way of using embossing folders in cardmaking.

The card is my Design Team project for the new Festive Friday Challenge which starts today. the celebration for Challenge #FF0129 is St Patrick’s Day which is coming up on March 17th.

As always, the design team has used the theme to help us draw up a list.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

My project used: green, gold, knots and luck.

Using Embossing Folders in Cardmaking

A card illustrating using the new Basics 3D embossing folders from Stampin' Up! to create a background on a good luck card

The embossing folders I used were the Basics 3D Embossing Folders that you can find in the newly launched Online Exclusives. These products are only available shown in the online store and are not part of a catalogue. This set of three folders really are a must have basic set of textures, the#at you will use time and time again. they feature flowers, hobnail-glass dots and crosshatch.

Strips of Colour and Pattern.

the new 3D embossing folders from Stampin' Up are flowers, hobnail-glass dots and crosshatch.

To create my card, I embossed an Old Olive piece of card, a Parakeet Party piece and some Gold Foil, each using a different embossing folder. These were then cut into 2cm/3/4″ strips and stuck to an Evening Evergreen mat of card.

The topper was created by cutting an Evening Evergreen frame and Basic White inner using the Fabulous Frames dies. The image fro the Amazing Silhouettes stamps set was stamped in Evening Evergreen ink.

The sentiment comes from the Charming Sentiments stamp set and was heat embossed in gold and die cut with the coordinating die.

To add the knots, I used a length of Old Olive Twill ribbon, knotted at each end.

The finishing touch was some gold Brushed Metallic Dots.

Let’s Hop
