Today’s blog features a couple examples of using scraps of paper in projects.
This blog hop is coming to you from the Crafty Collaborations community of Demonstrators. We are found all over the Stampin’ Up! world and we jump in to any of the Blog Hops that inspire us to then share with you.
The theme for this hop is “creating with scraps”. Whether it is cardstock, Designer Series Paper, or ribbon, I always have lots of little oddments and strips that are searching for a project, so I look forward to seeing everyone’s ideas.
You can see a full list of the products I have used at the end of the post, including links to my online shop.
Using Scraps of Paper in Projects
This card was one of my projects at a recent Bingo Night. Not only is it a great way to use scraps. it is also a great idea if you want to make your paper spread further.
Using the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper, I firstly cut six 2.5cm or 1″ squares. These were then simply laid onto a 13.9cm x 9.5cm (5″ x 3 3/4″) piece of Basic White. This mat was then layered onto Gorgeous Grape cardstock (14.4cm x 10cm / 5 1/4″ x 4″) before adding to a standard Crumb Cake card base.
Digging into my oddments of card, I found some Gorgeous Grape, Lost Lagoon and Shaded Spruce and was able to die cut the flowers and foliage using the Painted Lavender dies. These were then arranged into a little bouquet, using glue dots to secure the pieces together and a bow of Crumb Cake twine was tied around it. This bouquet was then added to the card front with dimensionals.
My sentiment is printed, because it was part of a kit send through the post, but a suitable Happy Birthday sentiment can be added in Gorgeous Grape ink.
Finally, to finish I added a few of the Purple Fine Simmer Gems.
Using Scraps Or Creating Scraps?
We had another card project on our Bingo evening. This one is a standard Boho Blue card base with a mat of Basic White and also a mat of Night of Navy. The diamond in the middle is cut from one of the sheets of DSP in the Mediterranean Blooms pack. I’ve also used a strip of the paper down the centre of the card and fussy cut the lemon from paper. The “hello” is die cut with the Mini Alphabet dies – obviously using oddments of Basic White and Daffodil Delight.
Having cut all the squares from the sheet of DSP, I was then left with some fabulous zig-zag borders. These obviously couldn’t go to waste, so they were turned into a scrapbook page.
You can see more details of this page on an earlier blog post.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects
