For this blog post, I have been using sketch challenges to create cards

This blog hop brings together different members of the Crafty Collaborations community to share ideas using a different challenge each month. This month we have a sketch challenge.

I love using sketches as a diving board into creativity. They never need to be interpreted literally because they are always open to interpretation. This blog hop will show the many ways people have interpreted this sketch and also all the different stamps, dies, papers and embellishments they have picked.

For my cards I used the soft pastel colours and foil details on the Splendid Day papers, as well as the Splendid Thoughts bundle. These, along with the ribbon and trinkets, can be found in the Splendid day suite.

Using Sketch Challenges to Create Cards

This first card is a Petal Pink square card. It features a textured effect paper from the Splendid Day papers in Sahara Sand. Two designs of the foil papers were then used for the strips of paper laid on the top. Some copper foil was also added as a band across the middle and for one of the die cut pieces of foliage. A piece of the Soft Sea Foam ribbon was also added to the centre strip. The other die cut was in Sahara Sand and one of the leaf trinkets were also added. The sentiment is heat embossed in copper., before the card is finished with some of the Brushed Metallic dots.

This would make a lovely wedding, engagement or anniversary card. The 7th Wedding Anniversary is traditionally celebrated with copper, so this would be perfect.

For this second card, instead of 4 strips of DSP, we have 4 long pieces of foliage, 2 stamped and 2 die cut. The circle element is replaced with the semi-circular pot.

This card also features some of the foiled paper, but this time this Fresh Freesia paper features as the mat and the band across the centre. That mat at the back was gutted, so the paper from the centre could be used elsewhere.

The card has a nice big bow of the Soft sea Foam ribbon and then some Fresh Freesia Opal Rounds have been added.
