For this month’s Casually Crafting Blog hop, I have been demonstrating using torn paper in cardmaking for this sketch challenge theme.
The idea behind this blog hop is to show that you can create beautiful cards even if you don’t have lots of equipment. These beautiful cards are great for crafters who are just starting out, but even avid crafters will love to try these designs.
This month we are using this sketch as the inspiration for our project. As always with sketches, you can change the shape of elements and the orientation.
Using Torn Paper in Cardmaking
I decided to use the beautiful Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper for my project. I was struck by the squiggly edges of the rectangles in the sketch, so that gave me the idea to tear my paper.
A4 metric | Imperial letter Size | |
Thick Basic White Card Base | 10.5cm x 29.7cm Scored at 14.9cm on the long side. | 4 1/4″ x 11″ Scored at 5 1/2″ on the long side. |
Pale Papaya | 14.4cm x 10cm | 5 1/4″ x 4″ |
DSP | 13.9cm x 9.5cm | 5″ x 3 3/4″ |
DSP | 9cm x 9cm | 3 1/2″ X 3 1/2″ |
Instructions
- Fold the card along the score line to create the card base.
- Stick the DSP layer to the Pale Papaya layer and then stick them both to the card base.
- Take the square of DSP and tear it top and bottom and then into 4 even size strips. Stick to the card front.
- Punch the Label Me Lovely piece from Pale papaya cardstock and stamp the sentiment in Soft Succulent ink. Add a swirl of Pale Papaya ribbon to the back of the label before sticking to the card with dimensionals.
- Fussy cut 3 small pansies and 3 Soft Succulent leaves. Stick the leaves to the back of the pansies before adding them to the card. Two are raised up with dimensionals and the third is stuck directly to the card with Liquid Adhesive.
- To finish I have added some Pale Papaya jewels.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects
How Can I Help?
This Designer Series Paper, ribbon and the In Color jewels are only available while stocks last. This is such a pretty and versatile paper pack with a selection of generic patterns. I particularly love the gingham pieces
