For this project I have been using triple heat embossing to create a faux wax seal.
This is my Design Team project for the latest Festive Friday Challenge. This time we are celebrating National Letter Writing Day, which happens on December 7th. Like many people, I suspect, I don’t write many letters. That hasn’t always been the case. As a child, I had pen pals and used to write letters to my Grandmother. These days, my letter writing is limited to a round robin to go in with Christmas Cards. perhaps that is something I need to change this December, and of course that letter would need to be slipped inside a handmade card.
The Design Team took the theme of Letter Writing and compiled a list of ideas to inspire your creativity.
The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!
My project used: script, embossing folder, ink, wax
Using Triple Heat Embossing
I used the Nature’s Harvest stamp set to create the main image on this vintage style card, along with gold embossing powder to create the triple embossed faux wax seal.
Vintage Card
This Soft Suede card features a layer of Crumb cake card that has been embossed with Timeworn Type 3D embossing folders. The edges have been torn and the layer was then inked with Soft Suede ink and a Blending Brush.
Next, the top Basic White later was stamped with the floral image in Saddle Brown Stazon ink. Colour was added with watercolor pencils, which were then blended with a blender pen.
The sentiment was stamped around the image in Soft Suede ink. The ink splatter image from the Nature’s Prints stamp set was added in Soft Suede ink. This layer was also inked with Soft Suede ink and a Blending brush.
These two layers were stuck together and some linen thread wrapped around them before adding them to the card base.
To create the faux wax seal, a small circle of card was pressed into a Versamark pad and a layer of gold embossing powder added and heated. More embossing powder was added while the first layer was still hot and sticky. Several layers were built up, before the bee image, which had been inked with memento ink, was pressed into the moulten embossing powder. You must always use the red rubber cling stamps for this technique because of the heat involved.
This seal was added to the card front with glue dots and some rhinestones added.
Let’s Hop

Oh, Helen, your card is fabulous! The faux wax seal is so unique and creative, and truly sets this card apart. I absolutely LOVE everything about it.
I really love this card, beautiful design and love the effect of the torn and inked edges. I am anxious to give the “wax ” seal a try!
Helen, I love the seal and the distressed look of your card. The script with the cone flowers are just gorgeous. Fabulous card
