This floral card features a watercolour wash ombre background that has been created with Blueberry Bushel ink.

My card is my contribution to the Design Team’s samples for the latest Festive Friday Challenge. For this challenge we are focusing on World Mental Health day which is happening on October 10th. Using the theme we come up with our Inspo List

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list! 

My project used: blue, green, sparkle, ombre

Watercolour Wash Ombre Background

I decided to use the blue and green combination as my starting point and picked Blueberry Bushel and Lemon Lime Twist. I then decided I wanted to create an ombre look with a watercolor wash. Using the Fluid 100 watercolor paper and the widest watercolor painter, I fist saturated the paper with water and starting at the top, I picked some watered down Blueberry Bushel ink up and painted downwards. As I added in subsequent layers I always started back at the top, then brought the colour down the page.

For my focal image, I picked this lovely flower from the Color & Contour stamp set. It has been a while since I used this stamp set, but it is still a lovely image. There is a die that coordinates with it in the Scalloped Contour die set and this is also the set the scalloped rectangle comes from that I used to cut my ombre background.

The flower was also water coloured and alongside the Lemon Lime Twist, I used some Berry Burst and a spot of Daffodil Delight.

I added sparkle to my project by adding splatters of Wink of Stella across the ombre background and also with the sparkly Faceted Gems.

The Lemon Lime Twist ribbon comes from the Ribbon Duo pack in the Annual Catalogue.

The sentiment, which is also from the Color & Contour stamp set fitted in beautifully with the Festive Friday Challenge’s theme of World Mental health Day. This bright cheery card would be perfect to send to someone who is having a rough time.

Decorate the Inside

Of course we mustn’t forget to decorate the insert, so I brought the Lemon Lime Twist inside with this simple stamped flower.
