Learn how to paper piece with a stamped image with this beautiful poppy card.
This blog hop is all about techniques and this month we are exploring techniques with Designer Series Paper. Stampin’ Up’s collection of patterned paper is varied in style and colour palette, but what doesn’t vary is the quality.
Learn How to Paper Piece With a Stamped Image.
It is Remembrance Day here in the UK on the 11th November, so I have created a few poppy themed projects to share over the next few days. My Mum was very involved with the Women’s Section of the Royal British Legion and as a child we would help put poppies together and also as we got into our teens, would accompany Mum as she went door to door selling them. So at this time of the year, I don’t only remember all those who have died in service to their country, but I also remember my Mum.
My Card
For this card I surprisingly used a pack of Christmas Paper. The Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series paper features stripes, checks and patterns in predominantly reds and greens. These are fabulous for the backgrounds on your Christmas cards and for gift packaging. However, because they are predominantly red and green, I was able to pick out patterns for my poppies and background.
Using the poppy stamps from the Painted Poppies set, I stamped the flowers and lesaves onto the papers with Versamark and heat embossed with black. This gives the poppies a bit of a shine and some raised definition.
The painted Labels Die set has dies to cut out thepoppies and the smaller leaves. I fussy cut the larger leaves.
A 7cm/2 1/2″ strip was cut from the right edge of a side opening card. This is then turned to create the front panel. More papers were chosen to decorate the inside panel, the left panel and the flipped front panel. A box of black & white striped twine was added to the front panel and the poppies and leaves arranged over the top of it.
In a season of remembrance, I thought a thinking of you sentiment was appropriate. This one came from the Peaceful Moments Stamp set. The Black Matte Dots seemed just the thing to finish this card.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects
