Every time I see the theme for this month’s blog hop with the Blogging Friends, the song “Shine on harvest Moon” plays in my head.
So as I sing along to myself, it is time to create a card with that theme for this month’s Blog Hop
My Harvest Moon Project
I decided I wanted to create a card with a large masked moon. In order to blend the colours in my sunset sky, I added a spot of glycerine to the ink. Because the ink doesn’t dry immediately, it gives you a much greater blending time. My mask was created by punching a 2″ circle from post it notes.
For my sky I used:
- Crushed Curry
- Pumpkin Pie
- Real red
- Misty Moonlight
I filled in the bottom section of my card with Gray Granite to give some shade behind my die cuts.
Once I had removed the mask, I used my Misty moonlight sponge to just bring a few wisps of blue across the face of the moon and some shadowing around the edge.
For my field, I used the friendly silhouette dies and I cut 3 layers. The first 2, I stuck down with glue and the 3rd layer I added black dimensionals. Because the die cut pieces were longer than my card front, I was able to position them so they weren’t directly overlapping. I think the dies are strictly speaking bulrushes, but we love a bit of creative licence.
As a finishing touch I added my sentiment with a leaf from the “in Good Taste Elements” and a bow of braided linen trim.
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Don’t forget to hop over to the other blogs to see their Harvest Moon inspiration and leave everyone a comment.

Stunning card, Helen! I love the tip of using Glycerin with the ink for longer play time – would never have thought of that. I really love how you used the black silhouette in the front of the card. Going to have to CASE this.
Thank you Tammy. I’d heard about using glycerine, but I’d only recently tried it.
