Today we will be looking at ways of having fun with designer series paper. With the Designer Series Paper still on sale until 31st October, now is the perfect time to think about all the things you can do with it , in addition to creating beautiful cards.

Gift Bags Galore

Earlier in the week we were looking at gift bags from our Designer Series Paper.

I made a cute Halloween one during Monday’s Facebook Live.

We were looking at mini bags in Tuesday’s Blog post, that we could use for an Advent Coundown.

And if you want a nice tall bag that you can fit a bottle in, then the method is the same as for the other two bags, you just need to extend some of your paper/cardstock and you need a square base.

Bottle Bag Measurements

For the body of the bag, take 2 matching 12″ x 12″ pieces of DSP. Cut a 2″ strip lengthwise from one sheet and stick it to the other sheet so it is extra wide.

For your base, cut a square of cardstock, measuring 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and score on all 4 sides at 1/2″ .

For the 3 strips top and bottom, cut 4 strips from the length of a piece of A4 cardstock. Cut one strip into three 3 1/2″ sections. Add these short sections to the other three strips as extensions.

When you are sticking the bag body to the base, make sure you use lots of strong adhesive!

Making your Office Pretty

Do you spend time organizing papers in your office?  Well how about using some of that DSP to pretty up your files and make your paperwork more fun?!

This quick and easy project is a great way to use your favourite DSP (and way less expensive than purchasing designer file folders).

Materials:

12” x 12” Designer Series Paper* – 1 sheet for each file folder

Manila file folder

Adhesive

Scissors

Instructions

  1.   Open file folder so outside of folder is face up.  Then starting from the top edge of the FRONT panel of file folder, use Tear ‘n Tape, Liquid Glue or other strong adhesive to adhere DSP, making sure to get good coverage around the edges.  Next use scissors to trim away around the edge of the folder, leaving a 1 1/2cm strip on the bottom, that you then fold around and adhere to the back of the file. This is so the bottom edge doesn’t catch on other papers when you’re placing the file between other papers and files.  (The back of the file folder isn’t covered because . . . who really looks at that anyway?!)
  • Open file folder and adhere the strip you had remaining from the bottom of your DSP to back panel on INSIDE.  Be sure to line the DSP up with the top of the tab; use scissors to trim away excess.  The reverse side of the DSP was used for the inside of the sample to create contrast.

Make the Set

  • Want to make the coordinated set shown above?  (This makes a great gift.)  Add a pen and large paper clip!  A Pentel RSVP ballpoint pen was used for the sample shown – unscrew the end of the pen and remove the ink tube.  Wrap a 8.5cm x 2cm piece of DSP lengthwise around a skewer (or around the ink tube) and insert the tube of DSP into the barrel; reinsert the ink tube.  (You can glue the wrapped edge of DSP if you like, but there’s really no need – the barrel will hold it in place.)  The large paper clip shown in the sample was a craft find that had a round base already attached to the top, but you could just add a 3/4” circle of card stock and then add aa 1/2″ circle of DSP glued onto the card stock.

Your Having Fun with Designer Series Paper Supplies

I hope you have been inspired by these projects to use your Designer series paper for so much more than cards. Make sure you stock up while it is still on offer.
